Sculptra Aesthetic is intended for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold (smile lines), contour deficiencies,and other facial wrinkles which are treated with the appropriate injection technique in healthy patients.
Facial
fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which
can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra®
is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below
the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It provides a gradual
and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of
folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.
Sculptra® is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material.
Sculptra® is not made from human or animal sources and does not require
a skin test. Sculptra® is a biocompatible (does not harm the body),
biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) material that has
been widely used for many years in surgical products.
The effects of Sculptra® are long lasting. In a clinical study, effects
lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session in most
patients. The results from Sculptra® are not immediate; Sculptra®
provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Dr. Adler
will usually suggest to see you again a few weeks after the first
session to decide if additional injections are needed. Touch-up
treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
People with mild lipoatrophy will require fewer treatments than those
with severe lipoatrophy.

Important Safety Information
You should not use Sculptra Aesthetic if you are allergic to any
ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or
hypertrophic scarring. SculptraAesthetic should not be injected while
you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area
and should not be injected into the red area of the lip. Use in the
skin near the eyes is not recommended.
Side effects of Sculptra Aesthetic may include injection site
discomfort, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching and swelling. Other
side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes
noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with
delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have
also been reported. In a key clinical study the numbers of small and
larger lumps were low and most resolved
without treatment.
